Michael M. Fortunato Hall
Winthrop High School (Main St.) - (demolished)

- The Echo, Winthrop High School Year Book, 1983 - Online - W inthrop Public Library
"Superintendent of Schools Michael M. Fortunato passed away suddenly on August 14, 1982. Mr. Fortunato had served as Superintendent of Schools since 1973, after having been Assistant Superintendent for two years.
Mr. Fortunato's help and guidance will be sorely missed by all students at the high school and, indeed, by everyone in the schools and in our town. He was a dedicated and tireless worker for the school department and a congenial and concerned friend of students. Mr. Fortunato was a demand ing leader who insisted upon excellence and was committed to providing every student with the best possible education Winthrop could offer.
The students in the high school especially will miss Mr. Fortunato who could always be found in his office at the corner of the school and who was always available to speak with students and offer advice or encouragement. Many students, either arriving very early for school in the morning or greeting from our former superintendent.
The editors and staff of the 1983 Echo wish to dedicate this yearbook to the memory of Michael M. Fortunato."
