| The Winthrop Senior Center opened its doors as a new, state-of-the-art facility
in September of 1992. In 2012 the name was changed to the Robert A. DeLeo Senior
Center in honor of local resident, philanthropist and Speaker of The House of
Representatives Robert A. DeLeo. |

| "Robert A. DeLeo (born March, 1950 in Winthrop, Massachusetts) since
2009 has been Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, succeeding
Salvatore DiMasi. DeLeo represents the "Nineteenth Suffolk" district in the
Massachusetts House of Representatives, and before becoming House Speaker, was
the chairperson of the House Ways and Means Committee. The Nineteenth Suffolk
district includes Winthrop and Revere." |
