Wallace B. McLean was a Science, Physical Training, and Driver Safety Teacher at Winthrop High School in the mid-1950s. He received his B.S. from Rhode Island State College in 1929, and did graduate study in Physical Education at Harvard University.
The tennis courts were built in 1965 along with the High School.
