On the steps of the Metcalf Hospital on Winthrop Street. This group organized the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the town in 1902. The child, is Richard Metcalf, son of Dr. Metcalf. The square is named for him, he was killed in World War I. Dr. Benjamin Hicks Metcalf is seated in the middle of the second row. Harry C. Whorf is seated in the first row holding the pipe.
