Charles E. Brooks, Jr. (1918-1945) - U.S. Marine Corp., WWII - was fighter pilot with Marine Fighting Squadron 313 (VMF-313). He flew a Corsair F4U-1D and was killed in action January 7, 1945 in the skies over Mindanao, the Philippines. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart. He is buried in Winthrop Cemetery.
