David F. Coughlin (1922-1944) - U.S. Army Air Forces, WWII -
was a P-47 fighter pilot with the 57th Fighter Group 66th Squadron, 15th Air
Force. He shipped to Europe July 1943. Flying a Republic P-47D Thunderbolt, LT Coughlin was killed in action March
23, 1944 in the sea by Lido di Roma, Italy. He was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and a Purple Heart. He grew up on Taft Ave. at Point
