Irving F. Mycue (1903-1944) – U.S. Navy, WWII – was killed in action when the destroyer he was on, the USS Meredith, struck a mine off Utah beach, Normandy, France, June 8, 1944. The ship was sunk the next day by enemy aircraft. He is buried at the Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial in the United Kingdom. He left behind his wife and five small children, the oldest nine years old.
