Tewksbury-Wyman (left) and Sturgis houses on Siren St., Point Shirley. The Tewksbury-Wyman was built 1750 by the Goldwaites family who founded a dried fish plant at point Shirley in 1753. The Sturgis house, also built about 1750, is still in existence (1987). The Sturgis family lived there and in 1812 operated a saltworks on Point Shirley. Photo taken about 1900. |
