Frederick W. Yirrell, Jr. (1922-1945) - U.S. Naval
Reserve, WWII - was a naval fighter pilot killed in action March 25, 1945 on Okinawa. He had entered the Naval Air Corps in September, 1942, and went overseas in July, 1944. He
grew up on Point Shirley, and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. He was friends with David Coughlin, an Army fighter
pilot also killed in action. |
